According to Feeding America, the demand for food assistance has leaped 30% in the last year.

Recent reports show that, of those who use food bank assistance:

• 40% are white, 38% are African American, and 17% are Hispanic.
• 35% report having to choose between paying for food or their rent or mortgage.
• Nearly 13% of children under 18 in the U.S. are served by food banks.
